Cathedral Pepper Sauce
Circa 1850s, 8 5/8", hexagonal, open pontil. An extremely rare pepper sauce and possibly the only recorded amber example in this mold. Another bottle dug in downtown Sacramento during the 1960s redevelopment era. There is some extremely faint, spotty exterior patina, a few shallow micro-flashes in the neck measuring about 1/16" to 1/8" that can be seen only at the right angle with sufficient light, and two tiny 1/16" pecks to the edge of one panel near the waist, all exceedingly minor and mentioned only for the utmost accuracy. Some dirt remains on the inside. The exceptionally large open pontil is a striking manufacturing characteristic that adds tremendous eye appeal. A remarkable opportunity to acquire what is likely the only recorded amber example of this style pepper sauce.Lot # 86

Keyhole Pepper Sauce
Circa 1850s, 9 5/8", iron pontil. An incredibly rare and desirable pepper sauce. Virtually all known examples of the Keyhole pepper sauces have been found in California. These bottles are known in aqua, green, and olive amber, with this beautiful green example displaying excellent eye appeal. This bottle has light whittle and a fully intact iron pontiled base. There are some substantial chips on the lip of the bottle, see photos. While not perfect, it remains an important rarity that any serious food bottle collector should consider. J. Boardman New York Mineral Waters
Circa 1845-1860, 7 1/4", iron pontil. A beautiful Boardman in a nice puce color with some light whittle. It appears to have been professionally cleaned, with some exterior wear remaining and small fisheyes common to sodas of this age. There is a small impact to the B in Boardman with about 1/8" of glass missing. Two potstones, one 1/8" and one 1/4", one in the neck and one in the body, both non-radiated. There is a chip on the underside of the lip about 1/4", with a smaller shallow sliver extending up the side of the lip, as well as an in-making crack about 3/4" long next to the iron pontil on the base. Not perfect, but a great looking soda.Lot # 89

Circa 1850s, 6 7/8", iron pontil. A nice 8 sided pontiled soda with plenty of iron left. Some light whittle and black slag swirls. In much better condition than most 8 sided sodas this age with almost no wear and only one or two small flea bites.Lot # 90

Pattern Mold Lattice Bottle
Circa 1700s, 8 1/2", 8-sided. Pattern molded with spectacular red swirls rising through a teal green body, creating a visually striking bottle. Once believed to be an early Keene product and featured in A Rare Collection of Keene & Stoddard Glass by Lyman and Sally Lane and Joan Pappas, it is now thought to be of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern origin. Jeff was especially fond of this beautiful bottle and prominently displayed it in his cabinet for many years. Condition consists of a bruise with a few associated radiating cracks, see photos. Stiegel Type Pocket Bottle
Circa 1769-1774, 5 1/4", open pontil. Pattern-molded pocket bottle in the diamond daisy pattern, likely produced by Stiegel's American Flint Glass Manufactory, Manheim, Pennsylvania. A beautiful amethyst color that displays moderate base wear and some high-point wear from handling over the years. A scarce and appealing example of early American glass. Jeff Wichmann Collection.
