Circa 1850s, iron pontil. Uncleaned, as found. A popular mug-base soda from San Francisco. This example has virtually no exterior or interior stain. A 1/2" shovel scuff near the base with associated microbruising. A shallow crescent shaped 1" hairline crack extending from the pontil.
