Here is one of the rarer unembossed Western whiskey 5ths. This mold has an embossed hourglass on the base and is found in two-piece molds with applied tops. These are found in early to mid 1880s context. This example is the best we've seen in a bright yellow amber with a touch of olive. This bottle is featured on page 145 of "California Bottles 1859-1885: A Record of Embossed and Unembossed Bottles Manufactured in Post Gold Rush California."
