Wormser Bros. San Francisco - Preview
Description
Applied top, early 1870s. Here is an outstanding example of the popular Wormser flask in a medium tobacco amber. The vertically embossed Wormser flask is likely the second or third oldest embossed Western blown flask after the Horizontal Wormser and J.Angeli flask. This is what is believed to be one of the Western blown examples with a top that has a larger upper roll and a flattened top edge. The Eastern blown examples will usually come in shades of orange amber, and are almost always heavily stained when dug, with a slightly different style double roll top. This example is loaded with whittle and nice seedy glass. This bottle appears to be in as dug condition with the faintest dirt residue on the inside (if you look hard enough). Whittled Wormsers just don't come up that often.
